Kalchas and Leja p.4 LAST PAGEWhile he had been talking to her, Kalchas had also concentrated on the door, or to be exact, the hatches and bars that were keeping it on place. They should be enough heated by now, the wooden parts were starting to smell burned wood and smoke.
He took the girl by the hand and made a rush for the door. It burst open in flames, splinters and sparkles. Before Leja really had a chance to understand what had happened she was thrown up on his back, between the wings. Then he rushed of in the direction she and the guards had come from in a speed that was terrifying. In the last minute she remembered why he had brought her along and screamed just

Kalchas and Leja p.3Kalchas looked at the chains. The flame had weakened them and they were slightly red on the place were they would snap.
He crawled up, stretched the chains and stretched them a little further. He didn’t try to break the chains with pure armpower, even if they didn’t looked wery impressive. Instead, he just kept his arms still and raised up, making his legs do all the work.
The chains snapped almost immediately. In the tiny cell, the noise was so loud, Leya thought for a minute that they would hear it in the main temple area.
Without thinking of it, they had both been whispering.
With amaze she saw him stretch out his numb limb

Kalchas and Leja p.2Leja walked in, and first she thought that the demon was shining with an inner light, but when the guards closed the door behind her she saw the tiny flame dance between his fingers.
She closed her eyes and tried her hardest to not think of what would happened.
Smile… I shall smile at my death and do my best not to see it coming, no matter how long it will take…

Kalchas almost lost the little flame when he saw her face though the shadows. The girl were actually smiling at him! He decided she had to be nuts. Sane humans just didn’t act like that. They were screaming and fighting and tried their best to make everything worse.
